Zach Dell co-founded Base Power in 2023 to rethink the residential electric utility, deploying home batteries and selling power directly to Texans on the deregulated grid. He first focused on batteries while interning at Blackstone evaluating a lithium mine acquisition, then deepened his exposure as an investor at Thrive Capital before starting Base. Dell, son of Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell, has steered the company through a $200M Series B, a $1B Series C, and expansion from Austin into Dallas, with plans to build its own battery factory in Texas. His pitch is that vertically integrating retail electricity, storage hardware, and grid services produces a cheaper and more resilient power product than the legacy utility stack.
