Nathan Mintz co-founded Epirus in 2018 and served as the company's first CEO, scaling the directed-energy startup from incubation inside 8VC through its initial defense contracts including a Northrop Grumman counter-UAS partnership. A defense industry veteran, he stepped down as CEO in 2020 to make way for Leigh Madden. He has since founded other defense startups and remains active in the Southern California hard-tech ecosystem.
