About
Kurt Terrani is co-founder and CEO of Standard Nuclear, the Oak Ridge, Tennessee company building America's domestic supply chain for TRISO nuclear fuel. An Iranian-born nuclear scientist, he earned his Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from UC Berkeley in 2010 and spent over a decade at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, including a senior staff scientist role and tenure as National Technical Director for the U.S. DOE Office of Nuclear Energy's Advanced Fuels Campaign. He then served as EVP for fuel development at Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation, and after USNC's 2024 bankruptcy he co-founded Standard Nuclear with Decisive Point, picking up USNC's TRISO assets at auction for $28M and emerging from stealth in June 2025 with $42M in funding.
