Isaiah Taylor founded Valar Atomics in July 2023 to build small, factory-produced high-temperature gas reactors that make synthetic hydrocarbon fuels rather than electricity. Born in 1999, he is the great-grandson of Manhattan Project physicist Ward Schaap and dropped out of high school at 16 to start an auto repair shop, later writing software for Bridgewater Associates before launching the El Segundo-based nuclear company. Valar's first reactor is scheduled to begin generating in Utah in summer 2026; backers include Palmer Luckey and senior Palantir executives, and the team has pulled in former USNC president Mark Mitchell, ex-Relativity Space CFO Muhammad Shahzad, and engineering veteran Willem Kriel.
