Bridgit Mendler co-founded Northwood Space in 2023 to mass-produce ground stations, the antenna terminals that connect orbiting satellites to terrestrial networks and that have not been industrialized at the same pace as the satellites themselves. She earned an MIT Media Lab masters and a JD from Harvard Law School, and is also a former Disney Channel star and recording artist whose second act is decidedly industrial. Northwood announced a $100 million Series B in early 2026 alongside a $49.8 million Space Force contract to upgrade the Satellite Control Network. Her thesis is that the explosion in satellite launches has created a ground-segment bottleneck that nobody is actually building enough hardware to solve.
