About
Bob Urberger co-founded Radiant in 2020 with Doug Bernauer and serves as CTO, leading the engineering of the Kaleidos portable microreactor. The two met at SpaceX, where they worked alongside structural engineers responsible for Grasshopper, the first SpaceX rocket with landing legs, and they brought that same hardware-iteration culture to nuclear. Urberger owns the technical architecture for a reactor that uses TRISO particle fuel and helium coolant inside a shipping-container form factor, the design selected by the Department of Energy for testing at Idaho National Lab. His core argument is that the nuclear industry's failures are manufacturing and iteration failures, not physics failures, and the company is structured accordingly.
