Andy Lapsa

Co-Founder and CEO

About

Andy Lapsa co-founded Stoke Space in 2019 with Tom Feldman after more than a decade at Blue Origin, where he ultimately directed the BE-3 and BE-3U liquid hydrogen engine programs and contributed to BE-4. The founding thesis was that no one was actually pursuing full reusability of both rocket stages, despite that being the only path to truly economic space access. Lapsa holds a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan and a B.S. from Cornell. Stoke is now flight-testing Nova, a fully reusable two-stage launch vehicle whose second stage uses Lapsa's signature actively-cooled metallic heat shield with integrated regen channels.
