Alberto Lacaze co-founded Robotic Research in 2002 with Karl Murphy and now serves as Chairman of the Board and President of Forterra, the company they rebranded from RRAI in February 2024. Before founding the company he was a staff engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology working on early autonomous-vehicle research, and he holds over 100 patents in robotics, controls, AI, and machine learning. Forterra builds the AutoDrive autonomy stack for military ground vehicles and has raised more than $238M at a $1B valuation from Moore Strategic Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, RTX Ventures, NightDragon, and others.
