AJ Piplica co-founded Hermeus in 2018 to build hypersonic aircraft on a commercial-startup cadence rather than legacy-prime timelines. Before Hermeus he was CEO of Generation Orbit Launch Services, where he and his three Hermeus co-founders built the X-60A air-launched hypersonic flight test vehicle for the U.S. Air Force. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in aerospace engineering from Georgia Tech and has emerged as one of the most credible voices in Washington on the case for sovereign hypersonic capability. Hermeus is now flight-testing Quarterhorse and developing Darkhorse, with the long-term goal of returning Mach 5+ commercial flight to American industry.
