Adi Prasad co-founded Matter to build and operate autonomous factories for complex, mission-critical hardware while training a physical AI model from the production data those factories generate. He previously led manufacturing teams for body and battery programs at Tesla, Apple, and Rivian, where he learned that the bottleneck for hardware scale is not the machines but the tacit process knowledge inside the people running them. At Matter he is using that conviction to design lights-out lines that capture every move on the floor as training data. The thesis is that owning production at scale, rather than selling tools to OEMs, is the only way to actually rebuild American industrial capacity.
