Industrial-scale production of TRISO (TRistructural ISOtropic) fuel particles and advanced nuclear ceramics — the high-temperature, accident-tolerant fuel form required by most advanced reactor designs (X-energy Xe-100, Kairos KP-FHR, USNC, microreactors). Operates a campus at 200 Europia Ave, Oak Ridge, TN, and was the first company conditionally chosen for a DOE-authorized fuel fabrication facility under the Advanced Nuclear Fuel Line Pilot.
The thesis
TRISO supply is the binding constraint for most US advanced reactor deployments. Standard Nuclear is an Andreessen-Horowitz / Decisive Point-backed bet on becoming the reactor-agnostic merchant TRISO supplier — the 'TSMC of advanced nuclear fuel.' Their $42M seed (Jun 2025) plus $140M Series A (Dec 2025) and partnership with SHINE on fuel recycling make them a critical chokepoint to watch.
