The product
Next-generation lithium-ion battery cells using a proprietary low-cost cathode chemistry that excludes nickel and cobalt while targeting an order of magnitude higher energy density at roughly 1/10th the materials cost. Initial focus is on aerospace cells for drones and eVTOL, with a roadmap into automotive, consumer electronics, and grid storage.
The thesis
American battery supply is bottlenecked by Chinese-controlled cobalt and nickel feedstocks. Ouros is one of a small handful of US labs trying to redesign the cathode itself — not just relocate the supply chain — and is one of the few hard-tech battery companies operating outside the SF/Boston axis, planted in Miami's emerging deep-tech cluster.
