The product
High-performance orbital transfer vehicles: Mira (LEO last-mile delivery, already flown) and Helios (high-energy kick stage for GEO/cislunar/Mars). Founded by Tom Mueller, SpaceX's first employee and the architect of the Merlin engine.
The thesis
Rideshare launch commoditized getting to LEO; it did nothing for getting anywhere else. Impulse is the first company to treat orbital transportation as a product category, enabling a 10x cheaper path to GEO and cislunar markets that the US needs for both commercial and national-security reasons.
