Hermeus is building autonomous hypersonic aircraft, starting with Quarterhorse — an uncrewed Mach 5+ testbed program — followed by Darkhorse, a multi-mission hypersonic vehicle for defense, and Halcyon, a future hypersonic passenger aircraft.

The thesis

Sustained hypersonic flight has eluded American industry for 60+ years. Hermeus is rebuilding the capability for both deterrence (Darkhorse) and the eventual restoration of supersonic civil aviation in the US.
